Since 2002, Westside German Shepherd Rescue of Los Angeles (WGSR) has saved nearly 10,000 dogs and placed them into loving, adoptive homes.
WGSR is a 501(c)3 non-profit and no-kill animal welfare organization committed to saving all types of German shepherd dogs and mixes from high-kill shelters and adopting them to qualified homes throughout the U.S. and Canada.
We have approximately 50 active volunteers, around 200 occasional volunteers, 85+ dogs housed at any one time; and 65+ puppies and dogs fostered in family homes throughout the LA metropolitan area.
Our work is 100% funded by adoption fees and donations, so volunteers play an essential role in every aspect of our rescue work.
Expenses are never ending. Vet bills for spay and neutering runs in the thousands every month, plus vaccines, micro-chipping, collars, leashes and food, lots and lots of food. Many dogs that come to us initially are sick or injured and have to be treated at the pet hospital. Kennel cough is a common occurrence because the dogs are so stressed over losing their homes.
Please donate or join Team Westside so we can continue to save and care for more of these amazing animals.
